Court Support supports you and your family through a culturally safe, trauma-informed approach, cultivating resilience and stability as you navigate the challenges of court proceedings. We aim to provide holistic care that addresses your emotional, spiritual, and practical needs, ensuring you feel connected, supported, and confident, while building a foundation for healing and reconciliation within a trusted community network.
Case Management
Our dedicated team offers culturally safe, trauma-informed support to guide you and your loved ones through the court process. If you’re new to Yeddung Mura, we begin with a conversation to understand your needs and priorities. We provide comprehensive case management, connecting you with essential services and support networks to help you navigate proceedings confidently. Our personalized approach promotes stability and resilience, ensuring you feel supported at every step. Empowerment Yarning Circles are available, and the following supports are included in case management to address your immediate needs.
- Financial Management: While we do not offer financial assistance, we can guide you in understanding your financial situation and accessing resources such as Centrelink or community programs. We can also provide budgeting strategies to manage expenses, like legal fees or household costs, to support financial stability during this challenging time.
- Food and Shopping: While we do not provide food, we can assist you and your family in planning for food and shopping needs. Our team offers budgeting advice and connections to community resources, such as food banks, to help meet essential needs during court proceedings.
- Health Support: We coordinate access to medical and mental health care as needed, arranging transport to appointments and connecting you with culturally appropriate health resources.
Chaplaincy
As part of the Yeddung Mura Chaplaincy Program, our team of Aboriginal Elders, respectfully known as Uncles—a title reflecting their cultural significance, wisdom, and role as trusted community leaders—offers culturally safe, trauma-informed care to support your spiritual and emotional well-being during this challenging time. Recognised for their compassionate hearts and skills in supporting mental well-being and spiritual needs, our Uncles provide a listening ear, prayers for you and your family, and support during grief or crisis, helping you find hope, healing, and strength as you face court proceedings, including circle sentencing, while building a trusting relationship that continues throughout your justice journey.
Drop-In Centre
We support you by offering a safe space at our Drop-In Centre to find emotional support and resources during this challenging time. Visit us in Fadden to connect with others and prepare for the next steps.
Emotional Support Hub: Drop by to access a listening ear, share your experiences, and find comfort as you face court proceedings, ensuring you feel supported in a drug-free environment.
Community Connection: We provide a space to connect with others in similar situations, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding during sentencing.
Family Support
We support you and your family by offering emotional care to maintain and strengthen connections as you are involved in court proceedings, ensuring your family remains resilient during this challenging time. Our team provides culturally safe support, guided by a Family Plan, to help you prepare for the potential impacts of the justice process, offering a listening ear to manage stress and uncertainty while keeping relationships strong. We also organise community events for families, focusing on fun days like bowling events, family sports days, or game nights where your mum, dad, sons, or daughters can participate, helping them stay connected through shared joy and community support, fostering a sense of belonging in a culturally safe space.
- Family Connection Support: We provide guidance and resources to your family, helping them stay connected with you and manage the court process, ensuring a foundation for reconciliation as you move forward.
- Reconciliation Preparation: We work with your family to prepare for the next steps in your justice journey, addressing potential challenges and fostering hope for rebuilding relationships.
Galambany Court
We support you by providing comprehensive assistance for the Galambany Court process, ensuring you and your family are prepared and supported during this challenging time. Yeddung Mura provides transport for you and your supporting family members to the Galambany Court and back, attends court sessions with you to offer guidance, and utilises proven motivational interviewing skills to help you tell your story with confidence, enabling you to navigate the court process effectively. We provide holistic care and tools to minimize stress and anxiety, while assisting you in finding suitable rehab or detox options as imposed by the Circle Sentencing process, fostering a path toward healing and justice.
Mentoring
We support you by providing culturally safe, trauma-informed mentoring to help you navigate the challenges of court proceedings during this challenging time. Our mentor pool of trained Aboriginal Elders and volunteers offers guidance, a listening ear, and emotional support through culturally safe counselling sessions to manage stress, uncertainty, grief, or crisis, helping you understand the court process, build resilience, and prepare for the next steps in your justice journey, empowering you with the confidence to face this phase while building a supportive network for the future.
Peer Support
We support you by facilitating yarning circles where you can connect with peers who understand the challenges of this time, offering emotional support to help you manage stress and uncertainty. In these culturally safe spaces, you’ll hear stories from peers who have successfully navigated similar experiences, providing inspiration and resilience as you face court proceedings while forming bonds that can continue to support you in your broader journey
Transport
We support you by providing transport to court proceedings, ensuring you and your family can attend hearings, including those at the Galambany Court, without the added stress of logistics. Our team offers culturally safe transport services, helping you focus on the court process while maintaining family support and connection during this challenging time.
