Yarn-Think-Grow
Yeddung Mura’s Yarn-Think-Grow initiative offers straightforward, action-focused yarning circles that connect conversation, thought processes, and personal development. Tailored specifically for individuals impacted by the justice system, this initiative blends cultural traditions with practical growth strategies.
Led by trained facilitators, Yeddung Mura’s cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)-based personal development program uses yarning circles to empower participants. Grounded in evidence-based practices, it combines therapeutic techniques with inspiring success stories to enhance well-being. A person’s well-being—spanning physical, mental, emotional, social, and health aspects—is vital to their overall happiness and ability to follow a Good Pathway (Yeddung Mura). The program creates a culturally safe and supportive environment for all.
The Yarn-Think-Grow initiative operates across three key stages of the pathway:
- Deterrent: Aims to steer individuals away from behaviors that might lead to negative consequences, like justice system involvement, through proactive engagement.
- Prison and Reintegration: Supports clients during incarceration and prepares them for life after release, equipping them with essential tools and resources to rebuild successfully.
- Community Support: Helps participants establish lasting positive habits, with ongoing yarning circles providing continuous support to individuals and their families, tackling complex challenges, and fostering holistic well-being.
This structure ensures participants receive consistent, culturally resonant guidance at every step of their journey.
